Client Requirements / Visitor Experience: A large screen suspended from the ceiling displays a mollewide (oval) map of the earth. Using the trackball at the console below, the visitor moves a cursor along the timeline displayed at the bottom of the screen. On screen, the continents move across the face of the earth, retracing the positions they have occupied over the last 750 million years – and predicting their continued motion 250 million years into the future. Options allow the visitor to explore some of the processes of plate tectonics; subduction, plumes, sea floor spreading, collisions between continents and earthquakes.

Unique Features: A slider which allows the visitor to watch the earth’s plates move.
